Based on a collaboration between the Office Français de la Biodiversité and the Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle, the project S⊙N⊙SYLVA aims at testing the feasibility of monitoring terrestrial biodiversity through acoustic methods within protected forest found on France mainland. The main objectives consists in describing the components of forest soundscapes, estimate the level of noise pollution occurring in these preserved forests, evaluate soundscape dynamics across diel periods, seasons and possibly years, and raise awareness to a large audience about acoustic diversity found in natural ecosystems.
